First time for everything...
I am very glad I found this site. I just got a 1977 F150 Custom 4wd with a 351 modified. My uncle bought this truck in 1978 and has owned it ever since. He gave it to me on the condition I would fix it up and take him for a ride in it. It had no bed on it, and needs the usual cab corners, floor pans, etc. He painted the back part of the frame (brake cables, wiring and all) with SILVER MOBILE HOME ROOF COATING WITH A BRUSH. Yeah...you can imagine what that looks like!
He is 80 years old, and if I'm going to take him for a ride, I have my work cut out for me. I've done a good bit of routine mechanic work in my day, but this is the biggest thing I have ever tackled. I'm trying to go one day at a time, but right now, it seems overwhelming.
Wish me luck!
You are in luck! You are at the best site to help restore your uncle's truck. The silver mobile home roof coating is a new one but should be fixable. This link is the one you want to help restore it: https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/forum38/
Take some pictures now an upload them to your gallery. As the project progress's, take more pictures. It really will help you see how far you have brought it back.
Be sure and check out the rest of the forum since there are several that may be of help during the restoration.
Good luck and enjoy the site!
I did luck on to a 78 F250 that no longer runs with a good solid bed, fenders, doors, hood...every body panel I need, and no dents, only surface rust...for $500. I feel very fortunate for that.
