Has anybody noticed any change or traffic jams at border crossings since the passport rule went into effect?? Dennis, will our Canadian friends need a special passport to post on this site?
Does that mean the 50,000 illegals sneaking in along the southern borders every friggin day will now be required to wait in line and enter at one spot? what a joke,, just polictical smoke and mirrors.
It started yesterday and it is Fly in only at this time.
The biggest wrong about this is the Canadian Gov't rasied the price of passports to take advantage of the situation.
A passport is now around $85.00
IMO, Border states on both sides.. will lose business once the new law comes into effect in 2008 for drive-in crossing.
We would have preferred a special Border ID that was tied into the Federal Tax system for entering the US.Our Driver's license & Personal Identification Cards are very secure.
I live close to the border. Its a short hop across lake Huron to the U.S. side.
Ten years ago, we could snowmobile or boat across and check in at a person's house.
It was convenient enough to stop in for lunch or a few drinks.
If they were not at home, they would leave a clipboard on the front porch and all we had to do was sign in on the clipboard. On the return trip here to Canada, we needed to go to a designated phone booth and call in to a customs agent.
Now the drive an icebreaker around the island to keep us "undesirable aliens" out.
I'm beginning to get nervous because I have a cruise out of Miami booked for next month and I'm still waiting for my passport to arrive.
Fordzlla Don't feel bad I have some friends that are leaving on Monday for Disney and as of Wednesday still hadn't recieved their passports. They had to drive to Edmonton to pick them up 4.5hrs and then back to Grande Prairie for their fight on Monday. If they even got their passports.
