New Shocks Installed - Thanks

I'm not an avid poster, well I don't hardly post at all, but I lurk around from time to time

I'd like to thank all of you for the posts about shocks and their installation.

I replaced all four shocks (Bilsteins) in about an hour.

I chose the shocks based on previous posts and reviews.

I got them from eshocks.com based on your recommendations.

I installed them with the truck sitting on the ground, tires on, with no real problems, based on other's descriptions of the process.

Thanks again.

That's going to be a little hard to judge. Too my knowledge these were the original shocks (Motorcraft). At 118,000 miles they were way past due.

They are understandably firmer. They remind me of the ride I used to get in my Jeep. I only put a couple of miles on the test drive before dinner.

Another problem is that I'm not too particular about ride. The only vehicles I have ever driven on a regular basis is an old vw bug, a Jeep, a old Blazer, and this truck. OH, and a school bus or two. Needless to say, ride is in the seat of the beholder.

So, to answer your question, they are fine as far as I am concerned. I don't know how much my tires actually bounced with the old shocks but they seemed to be firmly planted now.

I've noticed a definite difference in the ride of my Bilstein's in the first thousand miles. They've softened up just a touch. Initially, they were almost jarring on a raised bridge joint or a deep manhole cover. But they've broken in quite nicely. The handling is excellent, 10 times better than stock, for a 6800lb truck. I couldn't be happier.
