Enjoyed reading all the posts on replacing heater cores and electrolysis and all that. My core swap out and flush all went pretty well.
BUT
(Seems like there's always a "but")
When I went to refill after draining the prestone superflush, I coud only get in one gallon of coolant.
I know the bottom hose might hold some, and yeah the heater core has a little and since I didn't pull the block vent and drain, there's some there. Maybe the truck wasn't level or inclined. My Haynes manual says the cooling system should hold 14qts. Is there 10 qrts of misc old water, flush stuff, air and crud still in there? or am I reading the book wrong?
I have a 95 150 with the 5.0L auto with AC. How much should I expect to refill with after a flush?
After a day of driving I was able to get another gallon in. I guess the rest was in the block. Thought I'd get a little more insight from the experts. oh well.
