rods

I have a 2001 f350 ,I was reading in other threads that 2001 have poweder metal rods. My engine build date is 21sept.00 how do I know witch typ of rods I hane I have.

I believe 10-25-00 was the published cutoff date but several earier have PMR's and some later have forged. To be sure you need to remove the inspection blug on the driverside of the block and peek in with a mirror. Diesel Inovations has a writeup on it.

Mine is prior to that and I have PMRs. However, what engine plant made yours? Like amiller said, there are exceptions and I suspect it had to do with the plant. Is yours from Mexico by chance? Mine is an Indy version.
