My 94 F150 just decided to not start today. I checked the repair manual. Plugged a voltmeter into the tach lead at the coil. Whe I turn the motor over I see a steady 12volts, and according to the manual it should be a pulsating reading from 0 to 12 volts indicating the coil is firing. I put an ohmeter on the coil and it tests good. Next I performed an ohmeter test from the connector on the ignition module and it read less than 5 ohms. So, I pulled the ignition module and took it to Auto Zone. They tested it and the first test it showed to be good. I asked them to retest it and this time it failed. Saw it with my own eyes. So, I replaced the ignition module and it still won't start... I know it is not a fuel problem as I can smell gas and I can hear the pump when I turn the key to start... Suggestions ???
Plugs may be flooded from the bad module. Dose your injection system shut off the fuel when you depress throttle? If so it may be flooded and you need to clear it.
I am still thinking it is still flooded and the plugs are to wet to fire. And the more ya try the wetter they get. See if ya got fire at the coil wire and or the plug wires before throwing more parts at It. At least I would.
Thanks for the replies. I will check the distributor tomorrow. Question, if the Hall Effect pick up is defective is it replacable ? or do I need to but a new distributor ??
