Trouble Starting
I've had a problem for awhile I was hoping I could get some advice on. More than occasionally, like every other day, when I go to start my truck it fails to start. The engine does not turn over, but the lights dim, the fuel pump comes on, the radio briefly goes off, etc just like it wants to start but the starter does not turn over. Every time this happens, I take the shift lever (automatic transmission) and bias it one way or another in the "park" position and it turns over and starts just fine. I took off the bottom of the steering column cover to see if I could find a loose wire and didn't find any. Theres a thumb wheel down there with a cable that adjusts, I'm assuming, the position of the sensor that tells the computer what gear the truck is supposed to be in. I've tried adjusting that both way with no apparent change. Anyone have any ideas of what I should look at next?
