Get the codes pulled at Autozone or any parts store and post them up here. I would be willing to bet that there are lean codes and probably O2 codes

I am almost 100% sure that its your O2 sensors. O2 sensors start to read lean as they age. The computer sees a lean condition and then compensates by adding more fuel to the engine which causes it to actually be running rich, however the truck thinks its fine because the O2 sensors read lean to begin with. Swap out the primary O2 sensors and see if that fixes the problem.

Also, what have you been getting as far as gas mileage?

Try the O2 sensors and also clear the codes in the computer by disconnecting the negative battery cable for 15 minutes and let me know how that goes.

BTW, do you know which DTCs were on there? Pxxxx

I agree 100% with MisterCMK.

I wouldn't be surprised if your new converters are now fouled as well.
I'd get them checked out when you get the new sensors installed. A cheap backpressure test may tell you all you need to know.
If they are fouled they may still glow red-hot with a proper A/F ratio.

If they are bad don't get the pricey Ford ones.
You can get aftermarket high-flows for about $60 each.

Check your engine temp. If it's running cold, the computer compensates by dumping in more fuel. If the thermostat is stuck open, you'll usually get a P0125 code.

You most likely have a bad vacuum leak, not bad O2 sensors if you're getting "lean" codes. In the event of a vacuum leak, the computer dumps in more fuel, some of which eventually cooks off in the cats and makes them glow in the dark.

Could be a faulty MAF.

A severe misfire can also cause the same symptom although it is usually noticable.

I'd also suspect that a clogged exhaust is a good possibility.

As you can see, there's lots of possibilities. Someone needs to go down the list and test for each condition and either rule it out or confirm it as a fault.

Feel free to edit your previous posts whenever possible to add more information. There's no prize for high post counts.....

Steve
