I have a 97 F150 and here's the problem. Usually when I start the truck, the air will flow from the heater vents normally. After the truck runs for an hour or so, the airflow becomes very slow regardless of which setting the blower is on. The air that trickles out is hot and can be redirected by changing the output setting. While this is happening, I can hear the blower motor running proportionally to the blower speed setting so I don't believe it is a blower motor problem. It seems as though there is a vent somewhere in the airflow passage that is shutting down. If I shut the truck off and leave it sit for an hour, I can restart it and it will blow air again. Vacuum switch, relay, weak vent motor????????
Check out under your dash for the vent actuators and note the position of the arms, then check the positions later when the heater is not working.
Another very very slight possibility is that the blower squirrel cage has come loose from the motor shaft and starts slipping when it gets warm.
Thanks for using FTE!
