Question Front Heating Question

It's been a while since the last time I posted. I have a question. I have noticed that when I turn the heater on my 99' 5.4L, the rear seem to heat fine, but the front on blows cool air. There is no heat whatsoever even if I max the temperature. Anyone had similar problems with this?? What can be the possible cause?? Thanks in advance.

This sounds like the famous blend door problem. If the blend door shaft is broken, it cannot control the amount air flowing thru the heater core.

Not sure if this is your problem, but it may be a start.

Good luck,

Tim

Thanks!! I'll look into it. How hard would this be to replace if that's the case??

Also be sure to check the coolant level. If there's not enough coolant, there will not be enough fluid to get to the heat exchanger. The hose that feeds the rear heat exchanger is lower than the front so that would explain why the rear heat works and the front does not. Just a thought.

If it is the blend door then you have a pretty tuff job ahead of you. I replaced mine in about 8 to 10 hours. But is something you can do yourself. Do a search for "blend door" and you will find helpfull information on diagnosis and repair. Good Luck.

Check to make sure that the temp. control **** is not split where it pushes onto the shaft. It could also be a bad temp. control rotary control. This is checked with an ohm meter. If nothing else is could be a bad motor on the blend door. All of these are easier than the door itself and need to be checked before pulling the dash.
