My ABS light came on yesterday and I've searched the forums and found info stating to try cleaning that sensor, but where is/are they located? Anyone have a picture of the bugger? Thanks!!
Just the one sensor in the rear? Really? I was thinking there was one at each wheel for some reason, but hey, I'm not complaining!!! I'll try and get a pic and post it here for future reference for all. Thanks for the info Ponch!!

There is one Speed Sensor on top of the rear and one ABS Sensor at each wheel.
One vss on rear differential. One on each front wheel hub. I have never seen it but it is close enough to the wheel lug bolt heads to count them. Two wire leads run back to fender liners then to the frame.
Watch out if one is not reading. When you jam on the brakes it senses that wheel is sliding and releases that brake. Now you'e pulled in the oposite (speling bad) direction if its the front sensor. Not really a great way to go.
The back one will release both rear wheel brakes. It just increases your braking distance.
i think it just drove through too much snow and got them "futzed up" - on the drive home (50miles) the ABS light went out, but this weekend I'll be doing some cleaning & drying of the contacts to avoid an intermittent short due to melting ice - that's my theory as to what caused the problem, anyway...
I'll try and get pictures this weekend and post them - thanks all!!!
For $10.49, Napa will sell you a new one.. P/N 530780 (they call it a ABS Sensor) on top of rear-in. Repalced mine about a year ago after OD light was flashing. Fixed the problem.
I need your NAPA here!! $22 for the same part here!! OUCH!!! Then I got to do it in 10degree weather in my driveway!! WOOHOO!!! eerrrrr...NOT!
Anyway, for anyone else needing to do this, I used a 3/8" combo wrench to get the bolt out, then a little wiggling. Super easy.
I did notice that my tranny shifts MUCH smoother now too! Has anyone else noticed similar results? When my tranny dropped in to OD at ~44mph in 4th, you definitely felt it. Now, I notice the RPM drop and that's it. So maybe, just MAYBE, poor shifts could indicate a potentially failing rear ABS sensor. Has anyone else noticed this same thing?
Sorry to hear they doubled the price.. Still it is alot cheaper than the stealership.. I just checked on http://napaonline.com/MasterPages/NO...Id=430&x=9&y=7 and they are still listing it for $10.49 online. I got mine from our local napa store. But, I am glad it fixed your problem. Yes, the shifting seems to get messed up with this sensor being bad. It probably reads your speed to control your shifting points, etc.
