I was thinking about putting a lift on my truck. I was looking at this one, I dont really know anything about Tuff Country. A little input would be appreciated.
I like Skyjacker myself. The drop down brackets that bolt to crossmember are made better, spreads load out on a larger area. Comes with a backing plate to sandwhich the farme. They are known to crack there.
I installed on on a Ranger and ran into several issues that were unforseen....
dont have any experance with F150's
But sometimes there is a steering shaft extender to install..
several hoses would NOT reach on the ranger..
and then there is that space under the tailgate to deal with...
Just trying to say make sure you know what to expect...
I would go with a (Rough Contry) there half the price of everybody out their and built just as good, thats wat iused and it comes with every part u need for it the only hard part is cutting rivits and findin a good alignment shop

Sounds like you were installing a body lift. You get what you pay for... I think the original poster is asking about a suspension lift. With a quality suspension kit installed by someone who has done their research, there aren't many surprises.
SKYJACKER!!!!! again SKYJACKER. I have done several lifts over the years on ford from my 66 f-100 to my 93 f-150 4inch and 6inch. When you buy the lift dont go cheap. When we did my buddys 92f-150 6inch Tuff country and took it for a spin i was so glad i had allways bought skyjacker. The ride differance is drastic between the 2. My skyjacker 6 inch rides like a town car compared to his, and I didnt give up any payload. When you buy the lift make sure its the one you want. I bought a 4inch and took it off to put on my 6 inch. With the 150 if you go 6inch. I replaced my drive lines with dana's. you will need to replace the pitman arm, the brake hoses most likely, and if your truck has the rear sway bar then you need the extension bolts. For the rear spend the money(if you can) and buy replacement springs. Try to never add more than a 2.5 inch block to the rear. You should be able to go with a block add-a-leaf package for the rear. The problem with the blocks is you create a lot of axle wrap on take off. Also if you have the money go for the extended radious arms from skyjacker. It will add a insane amount of articulation in the front end with the added bonus (sometimes) of a little more lift to the front. The lift its self to install is easy saddly i have to admit i have it down to about a 4-6 hour 1 man job. There is a company here in Utah a recomend named jackit.com They have prices on there wibe site and a very helpfull staff. 33's fit on 4inchs 35's on 6inch. AND PLEASE NEVER BUY A BODY LIFT. I just dont like them from. had several friend have lots of problems with them. Well Ive rambled on long enuff. if you have any questions feel free to email or post here i have some photos if you would like to see as well.
DONT DO A BODY LIFT. I did a 4" suspension kinda wish i did a 6" but when you step up to the 6" you need new drivelines, brake lines, rims to fit 35" tires, regearing the diffs. With the 4" you dont need all of that even thou regearing would be good if you have 3.55 gears. EXPECT BIG FUEL MILAGE DROP AND POWER DECREASE when you go to bigger tires. with my setup i get 10-12mpg.
when looking at kits make sure they have new radius arms, pitman arm, shocks, coil springs and add-a-leaf for the rear and like boce said go with as little of a block as possible no blocks in the rear is the best.
I have tuff country and have not had a problem yet and i have beat the hell out of it a couple times.
When i bought my truck it already had a 6" lift and i believe it was a Superlift, because Superlift paints their parts yellow. It has the new radius arms, traction bars, rancho s5000 shocks, and i couldnt be happyer with the setup. It rides better than any of my buddy's lifted trucks. my only complaint is that i REALLY need to regear because im running 35's with 3.55 gears. i would also like to put in a ford trac loc. ALSO my trucks a 94
Just to let ya know you can run 35's on stock rims. I have some on mine right now. But i dont run them because thier back spacing is off and you will run on full tilt right and left.

my truck was lifted when i bought it, had the rancho kit on it , its a 4inch, btw never use rancho shocks they suck, after goign thru 3 sets of ranchos in 4 years never agian . i have been using the skyjacker shocks and love them i have the nitro line. the only thign i have to say about the rancho kit that i dont like is the rear add a leaf, they have you usignthe stock 4x4 blocks with it . i ended up usign a set of f250 4 inch easy rider leafs in theback, with no blocks, takesALOT to make this truck squat now. its great, i tow cars and trailers with mine .
I went with a Rough Country lift on my f250 and have'nt had a lick of trouble, and i
bang around the rutted wash board logging roads doin up to 40 mph. So if you want
to spend 1500 to 2000$ for a lift that does the same as a 700$ lift well then thats up to you. And by the way, my lift had all the parts including 1/4in thick drop brkts
shocks and all the hardware. Oh and good luck with whatever you decide.
