Harmonic Balancer Question

I was just wondering if I should replace the harmonic balancer on my 95 F150. I have heard that if it fails while driving, it can cause major engine damage. Is there anyway to know if it needs to be replaced besides it still being intact? Is there a recommended time to replace it? Mine is the original one with 12 years of age and 235K miles. Any thoughts?

Buddy I've only had to replace a couple balancers. If it were bad. You'd know it. Have even seen a couple that had come off.

Myself............. If it ain't broke. Don't fix it.
