my dad had a '79 GT with air shocks in back - i'm pretty sure he put more than that in his, but he was pretty hard on the poor thing! didn't seem to hurt it any though, just had to drive it very slow & easy...
no prob there - i had a 351W & FMX in the back of mine, probably some other stuff as well. that wasn't even a HEAVY load for it, so i'd say you can carry that even without coil-overs or air shocks. probably a good idea to push it up as close to the cab as possible though.
