The differnce between 04' and 05' wheels ?
Are they both 8 x 170 bolt pattern ?
Is it the back spacing thats different ?
Will 17" wheels off an 05' Fit a 06' that has 18" wheels,,and yeah were talking Superduty's here .

The subject line mentions '04 & '05 models, but your post actually asks about '05 & '06 models. There was a change between '04 and '05, but the '05-'07 models are all the same.
Ford went from leaf springs to coil springs on the '05+ model year Super Duties. This change affected the offset of the rims. The '04 and earlier Super Duties have a smaller offset, and the rims on '05 and newer models have a deeper offset.
There was also brake upgrade in this time frame. This change made it to where 17" and larger rims were required on the '05+ Super Duties in order to clear the rotor & caliper assemblies.

The 17" 05's will fit a 06 F350 with 18's. Only difference is the 17" tires are rated for less weight. Ford had a 17" wheel option in 05 and 06 for the F350's, but it lowered the GWVR. It was mainly for XL work trucks with the 5.4. Brake diameter for the F250 an F350 from 05 to 07 are the same and both trucks will accept the same wheels. (talking srw models)

Ok, Got it now,,Thanks Men,,The reason I asked, Found a set of wheels for sale,,guy said fits 04' and 05' Superduty's,,did'nt think it could fit both of those years, something changed,,we all know there is not much of a selection yet as far as 18" LT tires,,and there big $$$,,So was thinking about buying 17" take off wheels,,there are many more selections in the 17" LT tires, can basically buy 17" tires and wheels for the price of just 18" tires,,and then have 2 sets,,one for winter,,one for summer.
