Hey guys, I am in need of some advice. I don't personally own the Ford i just repair it. My mother has '97 F150 4.6L with 19x,xxx miles and i am the one who does the repairs to save her some money. I know i have an Exhaust manifold job ahead of me and i already got a set of aftermarket Pacesetter headers. They are direct bolt ons. From reading i know it will be tough but is possible and fairly easier than some tasks. Just looking for some tips that might make the process easier. Another question is the oil dipstick tube. Last time i changed the oil the tube just about bent in half when i went to put the dipstick back in. I would like the fix the poblem while i have the manifolds off because i will be right there anyways and was wondering if i could get some insight onto what to look for, what is needed and so forth? I work at the local parts store (Avance Auto Parts) so parts ar fairly accessible to me and i have a buddy who owns a repair shop so i have tools and i have resources but its the insight from people who have done this that i need most.

Expect to spend about a day installing the headers. Pull both fender liners &you can see the manifolds. Its stil a tough job. You will need lots of patience to get it done. Be sure you hook the egr line on & leave it loose till you torque the headers in place. I'd buy new studs from ford to get the new stainless ones they sell unless your headers have a good set with them.
Take the front wheels off also. I had to bend my oil tube a little to squeeze it in. You will probably have to loosen or remove passenger side engine mount, front drive shaft, and possiblely starter. Yeah, hooking up the EGR can be a pain.
