My 2001 4.6 F-150 has a dead miss, took it to the dealer, changed PCM. Truck still has a dead miss, right about 55 mph or on an incline. Took the truck back to the dealer, could not find a problem? The miss is not constant, only every once in awhile it will chug. Running fine until you try and give it gas at about or between 45 and 55, chugs a couple of time, then runs fine? What the hell any idea what this is? Taking it back to the dealer in the morning for a little talk.
How many miles on the spark plugs? Check engine light on? I had a similar problem with my 97 F150 4.6. Changed the plugs and wires on mine and has been fine ever since. Did that about 25000 miles ago.
Just under 80000 miles, No check engine light, I'll get the plugs changed and see if that's the problem. Paid $800.00 for the dealer to put in the new PCM, they need to at least change the plugs and wires. Might not have been the PCM, who knows, we'll talk tomorrow. Thanks for the info.
how long is the fuel filter in it. i ask as the new gas we have to burn is recking havick with filters and causeing loss of power miss fireing at times from low fuel pressure.
Change the filter, that was the first thing I done, suspected bad gas, put Lukes gas treatment in, didn't stop the miss....truck is at the dealership now, waiting to see what they say....thanks for the reply
