Question about distributor gear...

Guys on a 92 F-150 that has the roller cam in it does the distributor have a nylon gear or steel gear? I hope it's a steel gear?

Thanks,
Jason

The factory used a steel gear for roller cams, cast iron for flat tappet cam. Different aftermarket distributor mfgs. use assorted materials for steel (roller) cams.
Bronze has been around awhile. Not too good for street use. They do wear. You have to check the gear regularly.
Hardened steel gear that mallroy uses in their HEI is good for both cast and steel cams. I have been keeping a close eye on mine. 1 year and it still looks new.
Nylon is a fairly newcomer. I think they have been using them in chevys. I don't know anyone that runs one yet but would like to hear if anyone does.
