I wanted to find a cheap and effective way to remove rust. I added water and baking soda to a 5 gallon bucket. I then added the negative battery jumper from a car battery to the rusted pulley. I then connected the positive jumper cable to a iron plate and then to the battery. The water started bubbling after 15 minutes and was cloudy. After the battery was drained i unhooked everything and the pulley came out rust free. here is more info on how to do it http://fullsizebronco.com/forum/show...044#post492044
I now have much bigger plans. It involves using the garbage can so i can do it on larger parts
Also a word of caution if the electrode and the metal part your taking rust off touch, they will weld together
I think it is supposed to be washing soda and NOT baking soda. Washing soda is also known as "laundry booster." Washing and baking sodas are different animals. I've used the electrolysis thing many time and never been disappoiunted.
