[updated:LAST EDITED ON 31-Dec-02 AT 10:38 AM (EST)]Anyone out there know of a reliable, affordable way to put a little more pick-up in my giddy-up? Just traded in a '00 4.2 V6 for an '03 4.6L V8 and love the new power, but for me, its never enough. The wife is pretty adamant about not breaking the bank on truck toys, but a little here and there wont kill her (or make her kill me). Been lookin at K&N filters and some fuel modules and cant tell whats-what, what works, and whats crap. Thanks.
I dont know what kinda money you want to spend, but check out performancecombos.com. THe sell combo kits like intakes, exausts and computer chips. I puchased one for my 97 4x4 with a 4.6 and after it installed I noticed a huge difference. IOt was well worth the $800
I think the only thing really worth considering to make a big hunk more power would be a supercharger. If you can, go for a Kenne Bell unit, but also Vortech and Powerdyne are candidates that will create up to 50% more power.
I think air filters and chips are not worth the money you spend. In particular I am not a big fan of chips, if you mess with your drivetrain, you mightaswell go for a blower!
I'd try the new Supechip tuner first with a good airfilter..Is simple to do,just a few minutes and it works..Might add some life to your automatic tranny also since it will shift firmer and have less slippage between shifts= more life......Simple things.Change that tranny fluid on time guys.Could save you a bundle.
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 08-Jan-03 AT 03:29 PM (EST)]After some lookin around and reading, I think im gonna go with a chip and maybe a K&N filter for now. I know this should prolly be in the computer chip section, but what chip is better, or would be better for me, superchip, diablo, or another?
You can read all about those chips at the [link: motorhaven.autoanything.com|Online Store ]
