transmission question
My transmission is slipping in drive & OD, its a 86 F-150 302. was wanting to know if a automatic W/OD out of a 82 mercury grand marquie would work also has 302. Im not going to pull anthing heavy just need it for daily driving. Thanks any input would be great.

You can definately swap in any other auto trans from any other smallblock ford, up to 92 i belive. Thats when they went to electronic trans. Good luck with your swap, i hope it works out for ya.

I assume you have a 4x2. If the case lenght is the same ( I think they only made one 2wd case) then it sould bolt right in. I'm 90% sure 4x4's have a different output shaft and you need to disasemble the trans to change it. The only hitch you may have is the drive gear for the speedo. cars have different tire heights and gear ratios then trucks.
