Emissions Question.....Mil1ion
And does anyone know where to get a factory speaker for the dash?
A dash speaker from a 80-86 will work. The plug may or may not be different depending on individual year. 1980-1981 would be the best match etc...
You could try and ask Ford, I doubt they have any left, but you never know. Pricey I bet however.
Places like Radio Shack, or Walmart carry aftermarket replacements that will fit, but the plugs will be different or you will have to fabricate something for connections.
Then you can always try your local automotive stereo shop. They should have something avaliable.

As for the emissions question, GVWRs, Engine size, and fuel type, played a lot in emissions controls in the 1970's. Anything under a certain GVWR had to have a catalyst engine by 1977.
If you had a F-100 2 wheel drive, it would have been a catalyst engine. This is because the GVWR of the truck is under the highest GVWR emission control limit.
Because you have a F-150 4x4, you have a higher GVWR, that just squeezes over the highest GVWR emission control limit. Therefore a non-catalyst engine can be installed.
By the 1980's only F-350's were non-catalyst engines, as the Federal Government and California, set the Emission Control GVWR limit higher and higher. and even the F-350 were doomed to have to have catalysts in the future.
Hope this helps...
