i have a 46 ford f100 but it doesnt have the original engine or front end im told that the number that was on the frame was 799C-1596081 is this the VIN and if not can it be used to obtain a title?
The number you have says it is a 47 half-ton with a V8. However you have one too many digits in the numerical string after the prefix.
A '46 number would look like 699C 123456. If your original frame is missing the vin up front, look in the glovebox for the rating plate. Also if the tranny is original remove the inspection cover in the cab and the vin should be stamped on the tranny flange where it bolts to the bell housing.
bhs-bob Just read your responce on the 42 vin and have a 1942 with a vin # 99T-505I47. Can you tell me what the ton rating, engine h.p. etc is for my truck. My e-mail address is brevardhauling@cfl.rr.com.
Please e-mail me direct if possible. Thanks, Bob.
