I did it in my Bronco. I like being able to play in rear wheel low range. Front wheel drive came in handy once when I broke my rear u joint out on a trail. I let the rear driveshaft just hang and eased back on to camp. Its not hard to do, I made my own shifter up using 2 stock shifters and some scrap I had laying around.

See, this is the kind of answer i was looking for.
Lighten up! I have searched and got some good info, But I want to hear from some of you guys that have and or done this and what yall think.
then you should have said that from the get go, i see too many ppl screw up b/c they are too lazy and i dont take very well to laziness!
i use mine to walk around obstickles like trees and large rocks i cant climb over. set the front in lo range, rear in neutral, lock the rear line lock, 2nd gear, smash the gas and the front end will come around. literally turn on a dime!
its also very handy to have the ability to disable one end or the other if somethign comes up and you need to limp back on just one axle.
I like mine to seperate the front, and rear ends, to dig in for a big winch pull. Trying to power brake the rig, usually does not work so well. By sinking the rear end in 2wd, I can then select the front only, and down she goes. Before, I usually pulled myself right out of my own holes without burrying myself.
Having the ability to manuver around obstructions in the road is another great advantage, especially with a fullsize rig, on a trail that is meant for jeeps. (just as cutts mentioned).
For some real fun, stick a 203 (half a 203) in front of the 205!
The other reason would be cool points! Be the only guy on your block with more than two shifters in the cab.
Hey cutts, you were kinda hard on the guy, huh? Maybe he did not post the way you wanted him to, but, he did post, and that is kinda what this forum is about, yeah?

not hardly! has nothing to do with how i 'want' him to post, its the fact that with a small amount of googling, the answers are in front of him! he didnt say anything at first about opinions! in that case i would have repsonded differently! (pfft, prolly not actually, lol). it takes longer to start a post and wait for answers than it would were to just google something close and get some good answers!
but he's good to go now! waitin to see if he actually does it!
cutts:
see what you mean, was only trying to get a rise out of you. Hope the guy does the mod. It realy is a good one, and most guys are figuring out that shifters can be made, and not bought. Makes the mod affordable too.
