I just test drove a 00 X today, Limited with a v-10. The thing is beautiful, garage kept with 100K, great tires, new brakes, totally stock for $9,500.
The only problem with the X was a signifigant shudder in OD (4th gear?) during acceleration from 40-55 mph and slight bucking at 65mph. Turn off the overdrive and the bucking stopped and everything smoothed out. It shifts 1-2-3 just fine but something is pbviously wrong with OD that the owner (who's wife has been driving it for the last 6 years) supposebly new nothing about.
Any ideas?, I have never owned a X... I do plan on using this or one like it to tow about a 7K pound 24' enclosed car hauler about 50 miles at a crack back and forth to our local dragstrip.
This might be a simplistic suggestion, but I experienced the same thing driving across Nebraska last week. All the gears were fine until the tranny shifted to OD. Then the vehicle would shudder quite noticeably. I ended up just keeping the OD off and drove to the next fill-up in Wyoming in 3rd gear. Soon after we were underway with a new tank of gas, I realized I had forgotten to turn the OD off and I had been driving for several miles without any shudder. Turns out my problem was just a bad tank of gas. Must have been really poor quality because it felt like I had a bad COP or something. I've filled up a couple of times since then and run a bottle of injector cleaner in one of the tanks and haven't had a recurrence of the shudder. I know this is probably just wishful thinking but I figured I let you know anyway.
