P & G Test

This group I bog with is going to start using a P & G test to test for displacement... What does P & G stand for and how does this test work???? I assume it isn't 100% accurate because they won't make you tear down unless you're over the limit by two c.i.

Sounds like it might be the "puffer" test they used to do on our sprint car. They would puff the winner and sometimes the first three or four finishers, maybe a random car. They remove a spark plug, and attach an instrument similar to a compression tester that measures the volume of the cylinder, disconnect the magneto or coil, and turn the engine over by hand through the compression stroke. The temperature of the engine affected the readings, maybe that's the accuracy part you're thinking of. The aluminum block and head combos, along with running methanol, ran cooler than our iron block deal. We got a weight break for running iron, and they would usually puff us last to allow our motor to cool down for a more accurate reading. Not sure though, it could be something else entirely .
