You probably don't want to get caught up in this topic. A search will reveal over a 100 replies and nearly as many opinions. Stick with owners manual recommended Motorcraft 5W20---$2.22/qt., $9.97/five-qt. jug at Wall-Mart. Add the Motorcraft FL820S oil filter (anti-drain back valve) for $3.38+tax and you're good to go. And be prepared for an onslaught of posters advising something different.

Amen to that. But check around for the prices of the oil. I've recently experienced a surge in the Motorcraft oil from the dealer. I have to check other places, like wally world, for better prices.
Motorcraft oil and filter from WalMart are the way to go! Here in Fl, the 7 quarts and filter is approx $17.00.
$17.00 and 1/2 hour to do the change. Not to bad.
Why waste the money on full synth or oils with fancy names when what Ford recommends does the job and is fairly cheap to buy.
Also just because you use the motorcraft oil does not mean you have to use the shorter service intervals. I change mine every 5000 miles. Because that's what my driving conditions call for, per the owners manual.

I use Mobile1 for oil so I only have to change it every 5000 and WIX filter...not too expensive if you do it yourself and if it's good enough for vettes then it's good enough for me.
i would change my oil if i knew how, i was went to autozone today and asked them for a hanes manual for my truck but they said they didnt have one.... hmm anybody got any ideas for a complete manual for our trucks? going to quick lube is expsesive gosh i think it was 40 last time i got my oil changed...
Pretty simple on the oil....just undo the bolt in the oil pan and then unscrew the filter which is above a plastic shield so it's a little difficult to find the first time but it's on the driver side by the upper differential bolt.

I don't trust the quicklube guys. $40.00 is more the my dealer charges (34.95 including tax)! If I did not change my own oil, I would take it to the dealer. And since I'm cheap, I would call and ask them what an oil change would cost if I supplied the oil and the filter!

So if it's good enough for a Chevy, it's good enough for your Ford????
I think that should be reversed!
Just kidding! It's all up to what you want to do. It's what makes you feel safe and secure....
Some people, like me, prefer OEM items and service schedules. Others are happy using after market stuff.

It's also the official oil of Nascar which is reason enough for me...only another 28 days til Daytona...hooah
Just because the Tide, Littl' Debbie, Netzero, Depends Adult Diaper racing team uses a product, does that mean it's the best for your application?
You nascar guys only know how to turn left! And for the road courses, most teams bring in a ringer to drive! I'll take motorcycle road racing and F-1 any day.
To each his or her own. It's whatever you like and whatever makes you happy!
