engine running rough

I have 2003 F-150 Super crew 4x4 with 5.4 engine with 66,000 miles Started running like it was on 4 cylinders yesterday. Replaced air filter and fuel filter and it helped but is still running rough. Any ideas? The service engine light also came on

since your engine light came on, it would be your best bet to get the truck on a code reader. that will narrow down the source of the poor running. chances are that its a coil(#4) or plug. there are many awesome dudes here that can explain your codes for you!!!

Thanks for info. I read in another thread Autozone might hook up and read codes for you. Can anyone confirm this?

Yes, most parts stores will read the codes for free. Make sure you get the actual code and not just the "words". i.e. P0401

Took truck to Autozone code was P0303 indicating problem with #3 cylinder. Purchased Duralast coil pak and Motorcraft spark plug. Inadvertently installed in #2 instead of #3 and returned to Autozone for another reading. Came back with two codes P0303 and P0352. Returned home and noticed mistake and changed #2 back to original parts and installed new parts in #3. I noticed the plug in #3 had a gap of .085 instead of recommended gap of .052-.056 I am wondering if that was the problem all along. Will take the original coil pak in to be tested later today. Problem solved by replacing parts in #3 cylinder
