A friend of mine is having an intermittent no start problems. The truck has 275K miles on it so I told him to change CPS. He changed the CPS with no help (at least he has a spare now). He unplugged the wire on the sending unit on the Fuel Press Reg. He cleaned and re-installed and the truck started up. I was wondering what that sending unit is for??
He took the truck for a drive and it was cutting out. He scanned the truck with his Edge Programmer and he got P0344 CPS intermittent circuit fault.
Since he just change the CPS I told him to trace the wiring from the CPS as far as he could to see if he could find any problems.
I would make sure he used a CPs from International. The Auto Zone CPS's I tried to use failed and the replacement they gave me was weak. So I put the International in and its great.
I also replaced the whole IPR before finding out that the Auto Zone CPS was junk.
He is still having problems with the truck staring and when it does start it misses bad. He but the Edge Programmer on it to check the codes again. The Edge and his PCM locked up again. He called Edge and they said if he keeps locking up his PCM and frying Programmers he may have a problem with his PCM.
