starting problem ?
When I try to start it I hear one loud click and that's it.
The battery voltage is 12.5v and does not drop when I turn the key. Everything works, lights, ect and continues to work when I try to start the truck.
I just went out and checked it a little further:
I have 12.5v at the battery.
11.8v at the small red wire on the solinoid with the key in start position.
0v on the starter side of the solinoid with the key in start postion.
I think I may have answered my own question. (Sounds like the solinoid).
Put your meter on the large post on the solenoid that goes to the bat +, and while holding it there, get someone to try to crank the engine. You may have 12.5v in that area at the beginning, but as soon as someone tries to start the truck, see if it drops close to zero. If it does, you most likely have a bad connection at the battery, at the engine block(ground), or a bad cable itself.
Just remember to check voltages under load when things are happening. Your voltages will be very different with the load of the starter on the wiring.
