Guages gone wild

I have a strange occurrence with my oil and temp guages. When I turn on my blower switch the oil and temp guages max out. Turn off the blower and they go back to normal. Seems to me they must be grounding out , but I don't get the connection to the blower motor switch. Any ideas? TIA..I have a 77 with a V8 and air.

Well when gauges "ground out" they PIN to the high side.

I would be pulling that control panel out and seeing what is up with the wiring.

You might pull the cluster as well to clean it up and check the ground wire from the plug to the dash brace.

Had a similar problem in my '74. One of the wires was intermittantly gounding out. It took months to find the problem. Look for places where the wires may be rubbing, where the wiring harness msy be bent or damages. You may need to pull apart the wiring harness and separate the individual wires to find the problem. Pick a wire and trace it along its entire length, you will eventually be able to track it down. Just be patient with it.
