I've been having some problems with my door looks i.e. the key doesn't want to turn the lock anymore. I've oiled the locks from the outside and it seems a little better but not by much. Sometimes I have to stand there for a couple minutes and try to turn the key back in fourth until it will move. I guess this is not a big problem, but one of these times I'm gonna break the key off.
On my passenger side the lock will not turn at all. I'm assuming this is because its never used and has rusted up.
So my question is should I buy new locks or can I take them apart and clean them up?
My Driver's side is totaly frozen - since I bought it. For Better or worse the truck has keyless. I've been meaning to pull it appart but of course this requires taking to door panel off. Some day...
Our local locksmith had mine in stock I just took him the old one and my key and he matched the new lock to my key in about 15-20 min and it was only 13.00 bucks. If I was you I would look one up there really good in knowing what there doing. and suprised me how cheap it was.

Your problem is likely to be the key is warn. The lock is fine. What i have found is the tip of the key wares down causing the key to go in the lock to far. Try a new key first. Most likely will fix your problem.
I have tried both the spare and the reg key. The key I'm using now does look better than the old one. The old one (or spare) has the metal coating worn off of it.
They both have problems turning the lock...
Sounds like I should look into the lock smith thing?
Putting oil in a lock will gum the works up. Try cleaning it with the areosol de-icer. If you lube the locks it should be with a dry lubricant like graphite.
My driver door lock is like that. I can stand there and wiggle it and eventually it will turn. Doesn't seem to be frozen. New keys and old have the same trouble. I think the barrel is just worn and a locksmith is in my future.
FYI, either the front half or is it the back half of the key works your door locks (I can't remember which, but your dealer will know).
So with that in mind, if the locksmith does not work (it did not for me, the barrel itself was worn) you can take your key to your dealer, have them read your key code (by measuring your key) and find the common cut. Then they can order new door locks with keys and when they come in they can cut the ignition part into the new key. This way you will have two new door locks and the same ignition with new keys.
I also had them cut me a key with just the door lock on it and put it under the truck in case I lock my keys in. This way if someone does find this key under the truck, they can only unlock the doors, not drive my truck off.
