air intake question

air intake question

soo i was thinkin about this last night cuz i seen a picture of that twin turbo 7.3 idi... soo if i just bought a big cone airfilter can i just mount it right to the turbo would that work?? i dont see why it wouldent cuz if it will im going to do that...

Sure, it will work.....

BUT, you'll be sucking in hot air from under the hood instead of cool air from outside. Cool air is denser and better for making power. But the cone filter will still work....

You can buy a top hat like a turbo has, that fits on the intake hole and extends away from the engine.....

Yes it will "work" but you really should look into 'ram air' (getting the COOLER air from the front of the truck) or 'cowl air' (from the high pressure zone infront of the windshield). To get better air/fuel mix you want cooler air.
