2wd Tire size

What is the max tire size I can run on my '78 f150 2x4 with out having to lift it?

my 76 has 31X12.50s on it, but they are too wide. I think you could still run the 33 but stay away from the 12.50, look for a bit narrower. With no lift these tires are probably close to the max size.

I use a 285x75R16 which is a 32" diameter tire and it looks fine. If you have 15" wheels you may be able to find a 33x9.5 that wont rub.

why would you want to put a 33 inch tire on a 2wd truck seems like a silly waste of money.

Kind of like your post is an inappropriate waste of time to read? I didn't think it was your business

I am going to put larger tires on mine eventualy along with suspension lift. Just because it is two wheel drive does not mean we dont leave the road. most offroad trails can be accessed with higher clearence trucks. And like the half ton with 6 inch lift it looks nice to. mine will eventualy be a very capable overland expedition truck for extended camping and dirt bike trips. lots of pre runners are 2wd

I don't think he is asking too much.

The original Tires for that truck were 31" tall

L70R15 = 8.25 x 15 = 15.5 Radius or 31" Tall.

What is another inch ?

To tell the truth, I though 29" tires were stock.
Just to say.

I had 31x10.50R15 tires on my 77 2wd, and they seemed to feel the wheel wells pretty good. Then too, that is will the old sagging stock springs.

na didn't hit a nerve I was just sticking up for the guy. Just cause it isn't your taste or doesn't serve your purpose doesn't mean it's wrong. I can't count on both how many people I know with 3/4 and 1 tons jacked sky high with big tires and never haul with them. And you know what, what do also is none of your business.

Can't say something nice don't say nothing at all.

Hey good news this is 2007 & I don't know where you come from but out here where I'm at chauvinism isn't all that cool. Yes I do ask my fiancee permission because I have respect for her, not because I have to. After all, it's her house too. I understand my rights and I come from a long line of American Veterans, thanks. Speaking of rights- I'm glad to see you're making good use of your right to be an idiot.
