I am looking to buy a 99 F250 with 110,000 miles, 7.3 liter PSD. It seems to be in really good condition except for one thing. The dealer said that the ABS light won't shut off and that many mechanics have checked it out without a solution. He said that he believed its just an electrical glitch and not a big deal. What does everybody think????? trucks going for $15,000.
probably just the VSS. sometimes a simple cleaning takes care of that problem. just took care of that for a friend of mine today.
I dont know where you are at, but $15k seems a little high. I was tempted at buying a 1 owner (trade in) 2000 CC dually 2wd lariat w/ 90k and they were asking $10k for it.
When you key on the light will blink a series of flashes. I.E. 2 flashes -pause- four flashes > repeated 3 more times would be code 24. Empire is right though most of the time it is one of the wheel speed sensors.
$15K sounds a bit high to me as well. I got my 2002 XLT for $18K with 114K miles, and even that was on the high side of my tolerance.
I was in a situation though where I was 90 minutes from Houston, and these PSD's were still selling almost as fast as they got on the market, and I was one day away from moving to Birmingham where I couldn't find one on the internet within 300 miles. I had to strike while the iron was hot... no body damage, couple of minor paint chips, extremely clean, spray-in liner, very clean engine compartment, and you could tell that they hadn't steam cleaned it either... just general dustiness and very light typical dirt film.
If you've got the benefit of not having to rush a deal, be patient and you'll find a much better deal than what you're looking at.
