yeah....thats not gonna happen... you can count on that!!! I just wanna get some feedback on what I should do to it exterior wise. wheels, tires, paint, things like that.
First thing would be to get a long 4x4 and some chain. Attach this to the back of the rear bumper and pull backward... instant straight rear bumper. Next, paint ber solid dark green... or PPG Medium Blue with some metal flake. Then add some Eagle 058 series wheels and some meaty treads.
Not all of us can start out with a jem .This truck looks better than some of my early ones. I live in the land of rust and your truck looks fine to me. Go with best bet . Clean up remove /replace broken missing things. Spray Paint rims any color but the dark they are now (go with tan like middle) it will light up truck from side. . I must say this was not one of Fords best color combo. But I hate green. If money is a problem check local tech school and get painted cheep. It will look good going down road . A solid color. Can always get it repainted later .Then when get cash you can do till your hearts content. Are you in Pa I know of a truck just like that. good luck on ride
Repaint?? that is a classic color combo for ford all through the 80's and even in the 90's. my dad had 3 of them the exact same color combo. if it's not faded or worn save your money for other things until you really need a paint job. i'd straighten the back bumper, buy at least a grill guard, but brush/grill combo would be better. and i agree with lostin90's to paint the rims, i'm not a fan of the blacked-out look. i'd go with a tan to match the middle of truck or even chrome paint. what size tire is that, 32" ?? i'd get a good set of side steps, tubes look the best, imo. looks like a pretty nice truck as is though. good luck with it.
the first thing i did to my 89 was get custom front and rear bumpers. I had a local shop make them for me. www.kenmtn.com good guys there. rear bumper was just over 200 if i recall. has a reciever and 2 shackle mounts. the front i got a light bar, winch mount, and shackle mounts. that was a bit more. i think 4 or 500. if you are local they will mount them for free but will ship them to your door. I highly recomend you get the bed liner coating as apposed to the paint. mine get nicked while wheelin and get surface rust. i'll be stripping the paint some time soon and putting bed liner on it myself. Currently i have the bumpers, a 12k winch, winch acc. such as a 14ft chain, 2 shackles, a ****** block, 10 ft tree saver and a 30ftx3in ****** strap. sitting on 32x11.50x15 Maxxis buckshot mudders and 15x8rock crawler wheels. i'm happy with it like this. i'll prob put a leveling kit on it sometime. but it's wheels pretty darn well for a fairly stock truck. good looking truck by the way.
Keep it clean as much as you can cause rust sucks. Give it an inch and itll take the whole truck. A stronger bumper or a hitch is a good idea if you tow a lot because i wrecked my old brackets towing more than 3000 pounds.
the bumper just ain't up to hauling. plain and simple. thats why so many day laboreres truck bumpers are cockeyed or missing. just today i saw a bumper rotated by 90s the licensed plate pointed straight at the ground? what's the point? get a $2000 hitch or custom bumper and it'll serve you well. for towing and recovery purposes
i would look for a deeper mud puddle, then blast through it till the whole truck is mud brown.
then let it sit in the sun and let it bake on till real hard, like adobe.
then forget about it. you will never have to wash it again, and you can go playing in the mud all you want, and no one will know!!
