Tecron

I've been using tecron fuel injector cleaner in both trucks, and wifes car. All well over 100k. I do this about two or three times a year.
Orielly's sells it. About $10 a bottle.

How do you use it? Is it a fuel additive or do you feed it through the brake vaccum hose?

where you use seafoam depends on what you want to accomplish with it. Putting it in the crankcase will clean sludge deposits from the oil passages and what not. Putting it in the fuel tank will clean the fuel injectors. Pulling it through the brake booster vacuum line will clean the intake valves.

personally I've never tried it at all, but I keep meaning to, but from what I've read on here, I don't see why you couldn't do all three at the same time.

Except that my 2000 XP owner's manual says in big bold letters: Never use an oil additive for cleaning deposits. Damage may occur.

I've used seafoam by sucking it through the brake booster vacuum line. Make sure the engine is warm, unhook the line by the brake booster and insert it into the can. Let it suck it slowly for about half the can (make sure it doesn't stall during this part) Then you can put the hose all the way and try to make the truck stall. Once it stalls, let it sit for at least 10-15 minutes. This gives it time to eat at the carbon deposits and any other gunk that might be in the intake plenum/system.
When you are ready to start, it will take a couple of seconds to crank over and actually start. But once it does watch out, lol. You should be getting nice colored smoke out of your exhaust (cleaning!!) I then take it out for a quick spin, i like to keep it in first and slowly rev it to around 4500 rpms. I like to keep it like that for about 15 seconds let the motor slow it down to a crawl and repeat two more times just to make sure it heats up the insides.
I did notice better throttle improvement and minor idle adjustments, but it didn't hurt the engine at all.
I need to do that again, and also stick some in the tank as well to clean the fuel system.
Good luck.

Uh huh. it also says the same thing about cleaning the throttle body because you may damage some special coating that's supposed to protect it from building deposits. Well plenty of people on here have cleaned the TB (of said deposits) without problems. I'd take just about anything the owner's manual tells you with a grain of salt. Remember they have to cover their butt from ALL situations that can be dreamed up by even the dumbest people.

The brake booster vacuum line is that the line that is attached to the front of Power Brake Booster. I know this sounds like a dumb question?? If this not the right line then where would it be locted on a 97 Expy 5.4??

Thank you

that's the right line...you'll know because when you pull it off the truck will stumble...put your thumb over it and the idle will smoothe out...

Boy, did that thing suck it down quick!!!!

When you add it to your motor oil, can you run it for 5000 miles or do you add it and let your engine run for 10-20 minutes and then change it out??

Thanks
