I recently put a single Dynomax Bullet on my truck(in signature), the man at the exhaust shop said the insulation was similar to fiberglass and would get louder after a month or 2 after the insulation burned out... is this true?
thats certainly an interesting question. is it a "glasspack" type muffler? single?? dual?? or sido? i recently put a "Thrush" sido glasspack on my '02 w/4.6l...sounds very nice. i'm thinking that the "insulation burning out" wouldn't happen in something brandname...but i've been wrong before...guarenteed to be wrong again...
Idk...that did happen with my flowmasters though. I noticed a difference in sound after the 1st month. They didn't say anything about insulation but they did say they would get louder when i break them in a little. And they did. Maybe yours will to, but i'm not familiar with the pipe you have on your truck. Most straight pipes with glass packs also have a break in period.
Yes...in that case there is definetly a break-in period. Now how much difference there will be after or during the break-in period...i'm not sure with those pipes. Time will tell tho.
ive had magnaflow glasspack-like exhaust at one point on 2 diff. vehicle - def. had a "break-in" period. usually id put 'em on b4 going on a trip at least 1 1/2 to 3 hrs. it seems that running it hard on the interstate will ultimatly get you a more deeper, rumbling-type sound versus a more high-pitched import racer type sound.
granted, you wont ACTUALLY make your truck sound like an import honda or something, i was just giving you the idea
lol... i don't know if that made sence completely, but hopefully you got the jsut of it. looking up your muffler, it's basically a glasspack with a shiny cover and a fancy name. it will have "glass packing" which, in time, will burn out.
