I have about 1/2 " play in the connection of my C6 trans and the driveshaft. Is that excessive? It'll "clunk" some if I hit the gas briefly then let right off. I got underneath and physially observed the play.
I've checked the U-Joints and the rear end connection and found NO similar play.
What part would have most likely worn and how difficult to replace?
Check the u-joints again when you have the shaft off. Sometimes if the bearings in one cap are gone the other three will hold it tight enough that you can't tell when you check it by hand. Once you have the torque of the motor twisting on it, it will clunk.
