Wink doing it myself.

my warrenty company went over my lls entire system. they told me that they are covering everything except the airbags. $850.00. Go figure. I am doing it myself. I am pretty handy with tools, but I dont want to start the job and then encounter an unforeseen problemm. Is there any how to article on that. I search the entire threads. Everyone changes over to springs. I intentend to keep my 2001 expy eb as original as possible.

I know an answer is on its way.
Thanks guys

Welcome Expy4Life. I haven't had to replace the airbags on mine yet (are you sure that is your problem)? Anyhow, I'm not sure how to go about it, other than I think it is more than trivial. (After you drop the axle low enough, how do you get them out?) Plus you have to deflate the system (unless they are already 'down') and I don't know how to do that without the Ford specail computer.

Unhappy

Well I am sure thats the problem. The shop where my expy is right now has diagnosed the problem. both airbags are leaking. The truck is a lowrider right now. I think I saw somewhere on the threads that replacing the airbags should be pretty easy. I cant seem to find that thread anymore.

It ain't too bad of a job on my '97. First thing you have to do is "turn off" the air suspension system. For mine, that means removing the right side kick panel and flipping the switch to "off". Then the vehicle gets supported on jack stands under the frame. Rear wheels have to come off. Use a floor jack under the pumpkin to raise the axle a little to relieve the tension. Remove the air lines from the solenoid valve and unplug the valve. Take the retaining clip off the top of the air spring and compress the bag enough to remove it from the vehicle. Install the new ones in reverse order. Have fun!
