combustion temp. thoughts

Here i go thinking again and was considering how to lower the high combustion temperature particularly when you aquire more boost pressure from the turbo (Dave). What about fabbing a remote egr valve setup. I know they are designed to help reduce NOX but it does so by lowering combustion temps.
just fab a small 7/8" pipe and use a thread-on egr, then a mount it(wherever)and another pipe feeding into the intake side of the turbo perhaps; or would the turbo cool the exhaust gasses too much? would it cause build-up on the impeller?
i wonder if i should even post this? uhh did i say that?

When you suck 1100 degree gases out of the exhaust and route it into the turbo you will be increasing the charge air temp which in turn increase the EGT.

Intercoolers reduce EGT by removing the heat from the charge air between the turbo and the intake.

I would also be concerned about the soot building up on the turbo intake impeller blades and reducing the efficency. They would not get hot enough to keep the carbon burnt off like the exhaust side does.

Dave is right, the proper thing to do is add an aftercooler (or intercooler as some folks call it) after your turbo but before the inlet to the engine. This will do a lot more than what an EGR system will do.

The EGR system is a poor man's ways of reducing NOx on gasoline engines. Because it is cheap and dirty it is still used a lot but typically not on turbocharged engines.

By re-using exhaust gas back into the intake you will displace fresh air going to the engine which in turn will reduce your power output. You can accomplish the same thing by turning your fuel and/or turbo boost down without risking fouling of your turbo charger inlet wheel which is typically not made to handle any temperature like the exhaust wheel.

I agree with the others. As far as NOX is concerned. That is why waistgated turbo's showed up. They reduce NOX by reducing the amount of air to the motor until the motor can use it. Now it is variable displacement turbo's which has been in europe for several years now.
