I have an 04 KR f-250 with 6.0 diesel. I have an oil plug leak. I changed the metal washer around the plug. I was told to go up one size wih the plug because the hole is worn out. I was also told to clean the existing plug and use thread locker to seal it up. Have any of you dealt with this. What do I do? Is it enevidible I will have to replace the pan?? I drive this truck all ove the planet for work and can't deal with knowing there is a leak no matter how small.
The issue now with going to a Fumoto valve is the fact that the oil pan has been used with an over sized plug.
Not sure who told you that the oil pan hole was worn out, but that does not sound logical. Heck your SD is only an '04. Maybe the treads were crossed or something once. The metal washer should be replaced at each oil change.
IMHO...You need to replace the pan and then install the fumoto valve.
I have seen the drain plug cross threaded and replaced the plug and everything was O K. Try a new plug first, they are cheap. If it doesn't leak then get the Fumoto. You have nothing to loose considering what it takes to change the pan on a 6.0.
