My 223 stright6 runs great untill it gets warm. After that whenever it idles down (stop signs/lights) it cuts off & wont start for at least 15 mins.
It's not overheating, (or so the guage says)
I've rebuilt the carb,
new coil,fuel filter,new fuel pump,wires,
points & plugs. If it was a compression problem would it run so good before it warms up??
Any input would be greatly apprieciated!Danny
I had this exact problem with my 58 once. It ended being the coil.I guess it was going bad and when it got hot it would shut off. easy to change or if you have another one around just to see if it works before you buy a new one.
I'm having a similar problem with my truck. My problem is a stuck heat riser valve between the exhaust manifold and the intake manifold. Mine is currently rusted open and in this 90 degree weather, the heat is too much for the valve to be open. Have you checked to see if this valve is operating properly?
