I have a 2001 Ranger, with the M5OD gearbox. I'm looking into replacing the rubber shift rail plugs, with steel replacements. So far, I have found a lot of great information on this website, but when I called my parts guy, and gave him part number (Dorman cup plug PN# 555-108), the counterman told me that that number cooresponds with many different widths of plugs, and that I'd have to get the exact size.
Anyone know the exact size/width of the shift rail plugs?
According to my research it only lists as one size:
555-108 Cup Type Expansion Plugs
Nominal Dia.: 5/8"
Metric Dia.: 15.90mm
Type: Steel
Height: 0.220"
Closed End Dia.: 0.633"
Open End Dia.: 0.642"
Brand: Dorman - AutoGrade
His computer probably wanted a size like 5/8"
-Stupid computers, don't believe anything the countermen in parts stores say.
