Hello everyone. I am new to this group. I have
just recently bought a 1950 Ford pickup. I have been busy gathering catologs and litature. Trying to decide exactly with I'm going to do to it. So far I know that I'll drop in a small block Ford with auto trans and 9in rear. Haven't decide if I'll go IFS or keep the orginal front end. My question is concerning info in some catologs about the bed. I find listing for early 1950 and late 1950. Can anyone tell me what the difference might be?
You can take a look at my truck at:

The early 50 had a metal floor covering in the bed. The sides of the bed had raised panels embossed in them. The tailgate is different. The late 50 had a wood floor in the bed. The bed sides are smooth. The fenders are also different because of the raised panels on the early bed sides. I have one of each, and the running boards are also different. The early 50 running boards go under the cab and bolt to the frame. there probably is some more difference, but this is what comes to mind.
regards,
Don
The only differance between a 49/50 was the bed. On a 49 the bed sides were raised on the 50 the sides were smooth. I HAVE A 49 streerod I did from the frame up.
