Ok guys, Theres a 2002 F-350 Stroke 4 door short bed sittin on a lot here in my town. Its the color I want (Dark Grey) and has a leveling kit, which is perfect. 72,000 miles. Can you feel me in on what to look for on this truck? Is all warrenty out? Bottom of motor seemed to look pretty oily and dirty. Ill try and run a car-fax and oasis, Doesnt have goose neck which can be good i guess. Thanks for any help. Ill get back to ya later after I drive it.
I just purchased a '02 F250 Crew back in Spet that had 114k on it, and it hasn't dropped a single drip of oil yet, and I'm nearing 120K now. To find one with only 72k is really good, but the oily bottom doesn't seem consistent with the low mileage. typically, to find one of that vintage with only 60-80K miles indicates a very careful owner of a well-kept vehicle. Could be sloppy oil fills or something similar, though. It would be worth a really close look, though. How much are they asking for it?
I'm in the same boat as Pete. Purchased in Jan 06 with 108000. Now at 145000 and still no sign of leakage under truck. I would be a little concerned about the underside leakage.
Try to determine the source of the leak, there are alot of leak sorces that are easy fixes. Make very sure it is not the Oil pan leaking thought, the motor has to come out for repair.
def. check to make sure it goes into 4low, and 4high, if its auto hubs, make sure they work to. or that you can turn the hubs. but im sure that link posted above will tell you everything..
Well the leak looked to be the very very front of the oil pan around the balancer, It wouldnt start today becuase they said the batterys were dead, So I couldnt drive it. After they told me $29,000 I wasnt to interested anyways.. It wasnt that nice of a truck, had a few dings, also could tell two doors had been painted, the upper display console was brown?? which went well with the grey interior.. so I dont know why that was changed. Im just really wanting one thats the same color as my 04 so I can put my bumper on it without painting it. Hopefully I can find another
Kelley bluebook said 27,000 in Excellent condition, It sure as heck wasnt excellent, Oh, I forgot to mention it had a K&N intake system, haha. I still might go drive it tomarrow for the hell of it, See if these 7.3s will compare with my 6.0

Ummm..that'd be all the red flag i'd need. Yikes. It's probably a Katrina truck.

Don't waste your time. It won't compare. Durability issues aside, Ford did not go backwards in performance. Watch your KBB numbers. You need to deal with the low side of wholesale when looking at those as a starting point. I gaurantee they did not allow much more than that, if that, when they got it.

I know the performance wont be there that the 6.0 has, Ive driven them in the past, its just been a while. I want the longevity and reliability of the 7.3. I dont haul anything over 8,000 pounds so the 7.3 would do just fine. I cant afford a typical 6.0 problem when my warrenty is out.......
Cool, biggest thing, don't get in a hurry. I bet you can find one for under 20k set up just like you want if you wait and look. Take your time, it's a big investment and you have a truck.
