Next week I will be leaving my home in Palm Beach County Florida and will be headed to Indianapolis, Indiana to pick up a dragster I had built. I have a 2005 6.0 4x4 crew cab and will be towing a 30' Pace trailer. My question is what can I disconnect when I park in the hotel parking lot for the evening to make sure it will be there when I return? Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
remove the ficm relay in the fuse box. it is the only 4 post relay in the fuse box under the hood. it is about 1 inch square and it at one of the corners.
First thank you for a wealth of information you share with us!! Some time ago I was also a Ford Tec, ASE Master, but I have not twisted wrenches in some time and have no desire to other then play. <O</O
Question is could a switch be wired to the trigger wire of the ficm relay to act as a kill switch. Thanks in advance!!
The FICM Relay is a good idea for a one time or once in a while. It might be a hassle to remove every day though unless you keep the knee plate and fuse cover off. Maybe a decent alarm.
Thanks for the correction of the FICM location. I thought it was in the fusebox. Still a good idea but wouldn't want to pop the hood every night though. But once in a while is a great idea.
After my SD was broken into and the ignition was broken...my solution until the tow truck came (the next day)...was to pull the fuel pump fuse. I believe on the 2005 SD's it is #40. Yes...it would start, but not get very far.
I did this since my SD was so vulnerable for that evening. Now I have an alarm system with an engine disable feature...which works even if I do not activate the alarm. The engine will not start.
