I did a search and couldn't find a similar problem. I have an '06 F-250 Lariat with 7,400 miles on it. Today I went to run to a few different places, and the second time I started it up the check engine light came on and didn't go off. The truck is completely stock and seem's to run fine. Any idea's ???
I had the same thing this past Saturday - 06 6.0 with 20K. I had unhooked the EGR prior to running around. First restart after that the light came on. Next stop I plugged it back up and about 45 min. later restart - still had the light. Drove about 10 miles - took Momma into the mall came out about 45 min. later restart - NO LITE. It's been running fine through all of this. I haven't pulled the codes yet just though that it was the EGR since that was the only thing that I had done. I take that back on the first restart didn't let the glow plug lite go out and started it right up. Thats when I first got the lite.
Thats what it was the EGR valve. I decided to take it to ford since it was still under warranty. They pulled it cleaned it and I was on my way. I did notice that it ran better not as sluggish. It's not my every day driver so I guess I didn't notice the performance going down. I just have been using the truck around town mostly (short drives) the last couple of months I think thats what caused it. He showed me how to pull it and clean it so the next time I'll probably do it myself instead of waiting at the dealers.
Thanks for the replys!!
