rust hole help

rust hole help

I have a rust hole in my driver side door and a rust hole in my roof. what do yall think about using fiberglass to repair it . and how long do yall think it will last.

It would be best to cut out the rust and weld in new metal.

can't weld and don't trust glue

A good friend of mine who's an industrial welder by trade, told me he used some of 3M's Panel Adhesive on one of his automotive projects and said it was as strong as any any weld he had ever done and was quite impressed with the product. He even tested it's bonding strength by gluing together a couple pieces of metal. Once thoroughly dry he tried to separate to two pieces and could not, he did mess the metal up pretty good trying though. You still need to remove the rusted area and prep the surface to clean metal before using a panel adheasive. You do however need to have something to glue to, so you either need to flange the surrounding metal or glue in a couple of pieces of metal to the inside surface of the hole to glue your patch to.
