What needs to be done?

My buddy has a 99 f250 v10 and wants to make a heart transplant, he wants to put a 7.3L PSD in there what exactally has to be done? Anyone ever done it, do you have a website to go to for this? Thank you Mike.

It can be done. But...with the money you will spend, it would be cheaper to by a used 7.3L PSD. You gotta change everything: engine, fuel tank, fuel pumps, PCM, EPA stuff...it just ain't worth it.

Agreed. Trade it in for a decent 7.3 PSD. A swap would be very involved.

I agree with the the others here. The time and cost factor would make swapping those motors unrealistic. It woould be much, much more practical to just trade it in or sell and buy a PSD.

No matter what transmission he has, the PSD uses a different model than the v10 - does not matter if he has the auto or manual (there were 2 versions of each). Among a lot of other things, the PSD uses a different dash setup - it has different instrument gauges. If he insists on a PSD, it would be a lot easier to sell it and buy one with a PSD. If he wants a little more pulling power, it would be a lot cheaper yet keeping the V10 and going the lower gears.
